The India Energy Week (IEW) has quickly gained recognition as a prominent global energy platform, announced Shri Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, during the FIPI Oil & Gas Awards 2023 ceremony. He highlighted that the next edition of IEW will be held from February 11 to 14, 2025, at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, New Delhi.
Addressing the audience, Shri Puri noted that India’s energy landscape is evolving rapidly, marked by transformative reforms in the hydrocarbon sector. Key measures include crude supply diversification, gas pricing reforms, and opening restricted exploration areas to ensure a sustainable, secure, and affordable energy future. The Minister also cited amendments to the Oilfields Regulation and Development Act, enhanced refinery capacities, and increased ethanol blending as pivotal steps towards energy independence.
India’s energy sector achievements were underscored by Shri Puri, including a reduction in fuel prices over the past three years, positioning India as the only nation globally to achieve such an outcome. He highlighted that LPG cylinder prices remain among the world’s lowest, with subsidized costs as low as ₹6 per day for PMUY households. India’s refinery capacity expanded from 215 MMTPA in 2014 to 256.8 MMTPA in 2024, with a target of 310 MMTPA by 2028. Ethanol blending in petrol surged from 1.53% in 2014 to 16% in 2024, aiming for 20% in 2025, placing India as the second-largest economy in biofuel blending globally.

The FIPI Oil & Gas Awards 2023 recognized excellence in over 20 categories, celebrating innovation, leadership, and sustainability in the energy sector. Honorees included standout companies and individuals, such as “Young Achiever of the Year.”

Reflecting on the success of IEW 2024, Shri Puri emphasized the event’s global impact, which drew over 600 exhibitors, 91 conferences, and thousands of delegates. The upcoming IEW 2025 will feature over 700 exhibitors, 105 conferences, and attract 70,000+ delegates, further solidifying India’s role as a global energy hub.

Encouraging broader participation, Shri Puri urged stakeholders to view IEW 2025 not merely as a conference but as a movement toward a sustainable and resilient energy ecosystem. He also lauded India’s robust startup ecosystem, which has spurred over 1,400 deeptech patents, ranking India as the third-largest startup hub globally.
Concluding his address, the Minister congratulated awardees for their contributions, which continue to strengthen India’s journey toward energy self-reliance.
