In a significant development, Dr. Sajid Farid Shapoo, a distinguished 1998-batch IPS officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has been appointed Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of BEML Limited, a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking. BEML officially announced his joining on Thursday.

Dr Shapoo is renowned for his stellar contributions to national security and law enforcement. Over his illustrious career, he has held key positions, including Superintendent of Police in multiple districts of Madhya Pradesh and a founding officer of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in 2009. At the NIA, he spearheaded high-stakes investigations into terrorism and intelligence operations, dealing with some of India’s most critical security challenges.

Welcoming Dr Shapoo, BEML Chairman and Managing Director Shantanu Roy said, “Dr Shapoo is a decorated IPS officer whose vast experience and expertise will strengthen our vigilance systems and foster transformative changes. Dr Shapoo’s illustrious service includes roles such as Inspector General of Law & Order, Inspector General of Anti-Naxal Operations, and Additional Director General of Special Armed Forces in Madhya Pradesh. His exceptional service has earned him accolades such as the President’s Police Gallantry Medal (twice), the Police Medal for Meritorious Services, and the Home Minister’s Meritorious Service Medal.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Shapoo holds a Ph.D. in Security Studies from Princeton University and a Master’s in International Affairs from Columbia University, with a specialisation in Middle East and International Security Policy.

With his extensive expertise and commitment to integrity, Dr. Shapoo is expected to drive advancements in vigilance and governance at BEML.
