The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has reassigned IAS officer Amit Sharma to Mizoram, where he will take on the role of Special Secretary with independent charge of two key departments: Information, Communications and Technology (ICT) and Cooperation in the Government of Mizoram.
Notably, Mizoram marks the third consecutive posting for Sharma as IT Secretary, following his tenures in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. He is recognized as a specialist in the ICT domain, having completed a one-year Executive Post Graduate Program in e-Governance (EPGP) from IIM Indore a decade ago. Prior to his posting in Mizoram, Amit Sharma served as Secretary for Rural Development, IT, Transport, Science & Technology, and Disaster Management, Relief, Rehabilitation, and Reconstruction (DMRRR) in the Union Territory of Ladakh. Additionally, he held the position of Managing Director of SIDCO.

During his previous assignments, Sharma played a pivotal role in driving e-Governance initiatives, including the computerisation of land records, implementation of eOffice and the Civil Registration System (CRS) in Jammu and Srinagar Civil Secretariats, and enabling online services for citizens. His efforts also led to the successful establishment of a State Data Centre and State Wide Area Network in Ladakh, contributing significantly to the region’s digital infrastructure.
