Indian Navy and BEML

In a significant move towards advancing the indigenisation of critical marine engineering systems, the Indian Navy and BEML Ltd., a ‘Schedule A’ company under the Ministry of Defence, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 20, 2024. The MoU was signed at the Naval Headquarters in New Delhi by Rear Admiral K Srinivas, ACOM(D&R), and Ajit Kumar Srivastav, Director of Defence, BEML.

This collaboration marks a key step in fostering indigenous design, development, manufacturing, testing, and product support for essential marine engineering equipment. The partnership aligns with the Government of India’s Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, aiming to enhance self-reliance in defence production and reduce reliance on foreign OEMs.
