Vice President of India, Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, in his recent address, highlighted the critical role of Research and Development (R&D) as the backbone of both the economy and the nation. Speaking at the Bharat Biotech facility in Hyderabad, he emphasised the pivotal role of innovation in medical development, stressing that R&D efforts transcend mere execution, embodying the highest form of contribution to humanity.

“India’s pursuit to serve humanity through science and research should not be hampered by temporary setbacks,” he asserted, underlining India’s contributions to international vaccine efforts, including the donation of Covaxin through the vaccine Matri initiative.

Shri Dhankhar also underscored the need for corporate leaders to support institutions in promoting research and development to foster innovation, especially focusing on disruptive technologies.

Advocating for the channelisation of disruptive technologies, the Vice President cautioned against their unregulated proliferation, stressing India’s dedication to biotechnology and pharmaceutical research, which has earned it the reputation as the pharmacy of the world.

The event was attended by Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan, Governor of Telangana, Suchitra Ella, Managing Director, Dr. Krishna Ella, Executive Chairman, and other dignitaries.
