Jindal Stainless

Jindal Stainless, India’s leading stainless steel manufacturer, has formally announced its dedication to achieving science-based emissions reduction objectives and net zero targets as prescribed by the Science-Based Targets initiative. This commitment entails a comprehensive assessment of the company’s greenhouse gas emissions across its operations and entire value chain. Over the next 24 months, the company will develop science-based targets aligned with the latest climate science, crucial for meeting the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. These targets will undergo validation by the SBTi.

In recent months, Jindal Stainless has implemented several initiatives as part of its decarbonization strategy. These efforts include the establishment of a green hydrogen plant and the procurement of a contract for a wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project with a capacity of 300 MW. Through these endeavors, the company aims to generate over 1.9 billion units of clean power annually, potentially reducing carbon emissions by more than 1.352 million tonnes per year.
