
In a series of significant changes within key government agencies, Sheyphali B. Sharan has taken the helm as the Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau, succeeding Manish Desai. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Sharan has overseen media publicity for various ministries, including Finance, Health and Family Welfare, and Information and Broadcasting, along with serving as the Spokesperson for the Election Commission of India.
Meanwhile, Nidhi Khare has assumed the role of Secretary of Consumer Affairs, transitioning from her previous position in Land Resources to take charge as Officer on Special Duty in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. She succeeds Rohit Kumar Singh, who retired on March 31, 2024.
In another development, Sadanand Vasant Date has taken over as the head of the National Investigation Agency (NIA), succeeding Dinkar Gupta. Prior to his appointment, Date served in notable roles within the Indian government, including Deputy Inspector General in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Inspector General in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Notably, he was awarded the President’s Police Medal for gallantry in 2008 for his valor during the Mumbai terror attacks.
Sanjay Nayar takes over as Assocham president

Also, Sorin Investment Fund Chairman Sanjay Nayar has taken over as Assocham president for 2024-25, the industry body said on Tuesday. He replaced SpiceJet Chairman and MD Ajay Singh, who completed his tenure as the chamber’s president.

“Nayar brings experience of four decades in global financial and capital markets, including 25 years at Citi and nearly 14 at KKR, before retiring last year. He established KKR India operations in 2009 after leaving Citigroup. At KKR, Sanjay led investments of around USD 14 billion in private equity, real estate, and infrastructure, and credited private equity as the largest at approximately USD 10 billion valuation,” Assocham stated.

Furthermore, Santhosh Kumar Jha has been appointed as the new Chairman & Managing Director of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL). Bringing 28 years of experience in Operations, Infrastructure Planning, and Business Development, Jha’s tenure is expected to bring further momentum to the corporation’s initiatives. Prior to this appointment, he served as Director of Operations and Commercial in KRCL and held leadership roles in various railway divisions and logistics sectors.
