Central Government
In a recent development, Navneet Kumar Sehgal, a retired IAS Officer of the 1988 batch from the UP cadre, has been appointed as the new Chairperson of Prasar Bharati. Sehgal’s tenure, spanning three years, marks a significant transition for the country’s public service broadcaster. He succeeds A Surya Prakash, who retired in February 2020 after reaching the upper age limit of 70 years for the position, leaving the post vacant for four years.

Faiz Ahmed Kidwai, currently serving as the Additional Secretary in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, will continue as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Rainfed Area Authority (NRAA). The extension of his additional responsibility was granted by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, effective from March 5, 2024.

Dr. Tamboli Ayyaj Fakirbhai, a 2009 batch Chattisgarh cadre IAS officer, has been appointed Director in the Cabinet Secretariat under the central staffing scheme.


Maharashtra
Anil Diggikar, a senior IAS officer of the 1991 batch, has been appointed as the General Manager of the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST). Officer Diggikar, renowned for his extensive experience in various bureaucratic roles, including Vice Chairman and Managing Director of CIDCO, brings a wealth of administrative expertise to his new position.

Punjab
Several transfers have taken place in Punjab, with notable appointments including Kanwal Preet Brar (2007 batch IAS) as MD of Punjab State Warehousing Corporation Ltd., Apneet Riyait (2011 batch IAS) as Special Secretary, Personnel, and Upkar Singh (2015 batch IAS) as Special Secretary, Revenue and Rehabilitation. IAS officer Arshdeep Singh Thind has been posted as Secretary of the Revenue and Rehabilitation Department. At the same time, Harbir Singh has been given the charge of Special Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Department.

Meghalaya

R P Marak (2011 batch IAS), the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills District, Ampati, has been directed to assume office as the secretary to the Government of Meghalaya Mining and Geology Department. Meanwhile, Hema Nayak (2020 batch IAS), currently serving as Deputy Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya (Police) department, will succeed Officer Marak as the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills District.
