TVSN Prasad

In a recent development, the Haryana government has named senior IAS officer TVSN Prasad as the new chief secretary of the state, succeeding Sanjeev Kaushal, who is on leave. Prasad, currently serving as the additional chief secretary for various departments, including Home, Jails, Criminal Investigation, Administration of Justice, and Financial Commissioner for Revenue and Disaster Management, will assume the role during Kaushal’s absence, as per a government order.

Prasad, a 1988-batch IAS officer, has been entrusted with additional responsibilities, including General Administration, Human Resources, Personnel and Training, Parliamentary Affairs, Vigilance departments, and secretary in charge of Plan Coordination, in addition to his current duties.

Sanjeev Kaushal, a 1986-batch officer, is scheduled to retire on July 31, 2024, while Prasad has been overseeing the crucial Home department since August 2022.

The government’s reshuffle also includes the transfer and posting of four other IAS officers. TL Satyaprakash, commissioner and secretary to the Haryana government, has been appointed as Managing Director of Haryana Minerals Ltd, New Delhi, alongside his existing role. Ramesh Chander Bidhan, commissioner of Gurugram Division, will now serve as secretary for the Haryana State Commission for Scheduled Castes in addition to his current responsibilities.

These changes follow the recent appointment of Nayab Singh Saini as the new chief minister of Haryana, succeeding Manohar Lal Khattar, ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Additionally, the Haryana government announced the transfer and posting of 17 Haryana Civil Services officers. In another move, IPS officer Kala Ramachandran, currently serving as additional DGP (Administration) in Panchkula, has been appointed as OSD to the Heritage and Tourism department, alongside her current duties.
