Drone Industry

The Ministry of Civil Aviation has set aside an amount of Rs 30 crore to the beneficiaries during fiscal year FY 2023-24 under the production-linked scheme (PLI) Scheme for drones and drone components.

A total of Rs 120 crore in incentives will be given over three fiscal years. It is nearly double the combined turnover of all domestic drone manufacturers in FY 2020-21.

The value addition under this plan is determined by subtracting the purchase price (net of GST) from the annual sales revenue from drones and drone component sales.

The PLI rate is maintained at 20% for the entire three-year period, which is an exceptional treatment for the nation’s drone sector.

Another exceptional treatment for the sector is that the minimal value addition standard for drones and drone components has been set at 40% of net sales rather than 50%.
