The Kerala Police, known as one of the prominent tech-savvy departments in the country, is all set to get training in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Analytics, heralding the way for next-generation policing.

The Digital University Kerala (DUK), the nation’s first on-campus digital college has launched a specifically designed coaching programme, Capability Constructing in Accountable Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics for the police department.

The training programme has 150 hours of classroom sessions. According to report, as many as 15 select officers from the police department would undergo the first batch of training.


DUK Vice-Chancellor Saji Gopinath, said, “We are very happy to start this coaching programme for the Kerala Police division.”

Inspector Common of Police (South Zone) P Prakash, said, “The Police division is currently focusing on new software program, iCoPS, to analyse and use the information available within the Crime and Legal Monitoring Community & System (CCTNS).”

Snehil Kumar Singh, Director, Kerala State IT Mission, said that the government is taking initiatives to utilise the AI and Data Analytics in governance.
