Suhas Yathiraj IAS


President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind, on September 5, lauded the silver medal-winning feat of Suhas Yathiraj, an IAS officer-cum-Badminton player, at the Tokyo Paralympics. The President appreciated Shuhas’ dedication saying, being dedicated to sports while performing his duties as a civil servant is exceptional.

Suhas Yathiraj, the District Magistrate of Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh, closed his campaign with the historic silver for India after going down fighting against top seed French shuttler Lucas Mazur in the men’s singles SL4 class final. He is an IAS officer of 2007-Batch from Uttar Pradesh cadre.

The President took to Twitter to appreciate Suhas’ win, he wrote, “Congratulations to Suhas Yathiraj who gave a tough fight to the world #1 and won silver medal in badminton at #Paralympics. Your dedication in pursuing sports while discharging duties as a civil servant is exceptional. Best wishes for a future full of accomplishments.”


Suhas also received praises from the IAS officers’ Association as well. The association tweeted, “Congratulations Suhas LY, #IAS, DM G.B. Nagar, (NOIDA), #IND @dmgbnagar for winning the #Silver medal in Men’s Singles SL4 #Parabadminton at #TokyoParalympics. We and the entire nation are proud of you.”
