Basavaraj Somappa Bommai, a Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader is slated to take oath as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on Wednesday, today, at 11:00 am. Bommai has been named the 23rd CM of Karanataka on July 26. Just a day ahead, the outgoing CM BS Yediyurappa resigned from his post.
On July 26, shortly after his election as the Karanataka CM, Bommai said that he looks forward to working for the welfare of the people. It will be pro-people and pro-poor people governance, he added. Also, mentioning the management of COVID-19 pandemic and natural calamities, Bommai said that all the required measures will be taken to fight the pandemic and natural calamities like floods in the state.

Bommai, the former Home Minister of Karnataka, had worked in various portfolios including Irrigation, Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Legislature of Karnataka previously.
He is a three-time member of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from Shiggaon since 2008. Previously, he was a member of the Karnataka Legislative Council between 1998 and 2008.
