Rajasthan to get India’s biggest water tunnel, constructed in the State of Rajasthan, up and running by January 2021. The 8.75 km long tunnel, constructed at a cost of Rs 299 crore, passes through a hilly tract connecting Jhalawar district till its border with Baran district.
The water tunnel will draw water from the dam in Ahawad Kalan village and will supply it to over 2.4 lakh households and 1.41 lakh hectares of land in Baran and Kota districts. It is being considered a major step to aid the households and agriculture in the districts as the availability of water will enable the farmers to cultivate the rabi crops with full capacity. Moreover, the authorities have earmarked a certain amount of water for the wildlife areas to bring back its old glory.
