MoHFW to repurpose eVIN to ensure last-mile delivery of COVID vaccine: Dr Harsh Vardhan

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) is heading to repurpose its digital platform of Universal Immunisation Programme – Improving Vaccination System (eVIN) – to track the movement of COVID vaccine and maintain a database of its administration for ensuring last-mile vaccine delivery, said Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister for MoHFW. The Minister said it while interacting with Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) via video conferencing on November 20.

Further, the Health Minister mentioned that under the Mission Indradhanush, the government has enhanced immunisation capability owing to a huge cold storage chain for inoculating children from 12 diseases.

As reported by PTI, Dr Harsh Vardhan stated, “The eVIN platform is being repurposed as COVIN Network. The system will aid in tracking the stock of COVID vaccine. It will also create a database of people receiving the vaccine to ensure the last-mile vaccine delivery.”
