RAISE 2020 Summit: 15 startups topped, PM Modi announced Rs 20 lakh cash prize each

RAISE 2020 – The Responsible AI Social Empowerment Virtual Summit organised by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) opened doors for immense opportunities for AI-based startups. The second day of the Summit witnessed the wave innovation in the country with winners of of ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat AI Start-up Pitch Fest’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi graced the occasion with his presence and announced the winners.

The PM announced as many as 15 winners of the AI Startup Pitch Fest and six startups were given a special mention. Entrepreneurs from various domains including healthcare, edtech, smart mobility, transportation, agriculture, and more brought their startups to the fest. A dedicated panel of jury consisting of experts from the industry, academia and government shortlisted the winners.

PM Modi, in a significant step to promote digitization and AI in the country, announced cash prizes of Rs 20 lakh for each winner. The RAISE Summit 2020 provided a platform for innovative startups to showcase their solutions to the world and actively participate in transforming India.

The 15 winners include:

Artivatic.ai presented its product DARVIN under the healthcare category. DARVIN is is an innovative approach to augment health-tech, wellness, genetics & health insurance fields. It is a one-stop solution designed for healthcare institutions, hospitals, patients, insurance companies, clinics, TPAs and the list goes on. Layak Singh and Puneet Tandon founded this winner startup in 2017.

CogniABle swept away the prize in the education category. The startup brought forward its machine learning-based assistive technology that can provide early detection of autism spectrum disorder. The very focus of the startup is to make Autism treatment accessible and affordable while not compromising on the quality treatment. CogniABle is a brainchild of researchers and scientists from IIT-Delhi, along with paediatricians, psychologists and BCBA’s from India and USA. The startup was founded in 2016.

Embibe is an AI-driven platform to ease learning and improve students’ scores. The startup won the challenge in the education category. The Mumbai-based startup is providing a platform for traditional educators to adopt personalisation for students in the classroom. Aditi Avasthi, the founder, founded it in 2012.

ENIXTA Innovations another AI company that enables online businesses to enhance their customer engagement conversations. The company has be shortlisted as winner under the NLP category, for their extraordinary usage of AI, NLP and machine learning to turn customers’ voices into actionable insights. The company’s AI algorithms analyses millions of user reviews across categories and product technical specifications to provide a balanced scorecard to include user expressed sentiments.

GingerMind.aiestablished in 2015, by Gaurav Mittal won the challenge in other category. Its AI-based products are aiding visually impaired people in 160+ countries. ‘Eye-D’ is one of the flagship products of the company that has provided improved quality of life to visually impaired people using AI. The startup has  vision that with technology, terms like impairment, challenged and marginalised can be erased from the human vocabulary.

Haptik another company winnning the challenge in the NLP category had its intelligent virtual assistants as its USP. Founded by Aakrit Vaish and Swapan Rajdev, Haptik is an AI-based conversational solution that can pace up the AI journey with its all-inclusive platform built-in with domain-specific natural language models, and ready-to-deploy smart skills and flexible integrations.

Intello Labs a Gurugram-based agritech startup has won the AI solution challenge for their AI-based tools developed to monitor the quality of and to grade fruits and vegetables. Milan Sharma, Nishant Mishra, Himani Shah and Devendra Chandani founded thestartup in 2016.

Nayan India Science And Technologies made it among the winners under the smart mobility and transportation category. The Delhi-based startup, presented an AI and computer vision solution to solve traffic menace and bring down accidents, dangerous driving and traffic violations. Founded by Jayant Ratti, the startup is renowned for developing innovative product-based services that can capture road conditions and traffic violations.

Rezo.ai another startup making itthrough the NLP category. The Noida-based statup is an AI-powered platform designed to automate conversations, reduce resolution time and enhance customer experience over voice, email, chat, WhatsApp and social. The startup was established in 2017 by two IIT Delhi, Manish Gupta and Dr Rashi Gupta.

RoadMetrics won the challenge in the smart mobility and transportation category with its AI-based solution that is capable of accurately mapping road information at scale. The mapping details include road surface details, street assets, informatory signs and much more. RoadMetrics was founded by Dipen Babariya and Mishal Jariwala in 2007.

SigTuple Technologies was second comapny making it throuh the health category. It leverages AI along with robotics and data science to develop smart screening solutions. The tech aids in making healthcare affordable as well as accurate and accessible for everyone. Tathagato Rai Dastidar founded the startup in 2015 in Bangalore.

Sequretek another company winning the award under others category is Sequretek. Founded in 2013 by Anand Naik and Pankit Desai, Sequretek is a Bangalore based startup known to provide solutions to secure information for enterprises of the future. The startup claims to offer advanced solutions to businesses to manage their organisational assets and brands. It uses AI- and ML-driven technologies in end-to-end cybersecurity to ensure that companies are equipped against all threats, known and unknown.

Sirena Technologiesa Bangalore-based startup won the challenge with their first Indian humanoid robot — Nino. Nino is a platform to learn and experiment and act as an educational companion to kids in schools. It is a part of SKIP — Sirena Knowledge and Information Program — that focuses on teaching kids about technology. This robot talk, walk, dance, sing, play and so on with its inherently built intelligence.

TartanSense an Agri-tech startup earned the laurel in the agriculture sector. The startup brought forward its agriculture robots with AI technology that helps farmers in weed spraying. It was established in 2015 bythe founder Jaisimha Rao.

Uncanny Vision another one making through the smart mobility and transportation category is Uncanny Vision. It is an AI-based computer vision startup that is focuses on making smart cameras with real-time, edge-based intelligence for smart cities and smart parking. The startup has been appreciated and got renoned for its automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) solution.
