Flipkart to establish its largest Fulfilling Centre on HSIIDC land in Manesar

Flipkart, a renowned e-commerce website, is to set up its largest fulfilment centre on Haryana State Industrial & Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC) land in Gurgaon-Manesar region. The new upcoming centre will create thousands of local jobs and boost market access opportunities for lakhs of MSMEs, Sellers from Haryana & other north Indian states.

The HSIIDC has allotted 140 acres of land to Flipkart group for setting up their largest fulfilling centre in Asia. The land covers an area of 3 million square feet in PatliHazipur, Manesar. The allotment was approved by the Executive Empowered Committee in its meeting today. The meeting was chaired by Principal Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister- cum- Chairman HSIIDC,  Rajesh Khullar. Khullar informed that due to increasing demand for warehousing from e-commerce companies, HSIIDC has set up a warehousing hub over an area 285 acres in PatliHazipur, Manesar.

The land has been allotted at bare shell cost of Rs 3.09 crore per acre and all infrastructure facilities have to be laid by the Flipkart Group. This project shall give impetus to further investments in the region and shall be a prestigious project for Haryana.

Over the next three to five years, Flipkart will be setting up a logistics park in the said land parcel which has a potential of a total built-up area of five million square feet and shall be developed in two to three phases, informed representatives Flipkart Group.

The first phase of the project shall commence operations by 2022. The sustainable development of the park is expected to cost more than 3500 crore in capital investment and shall create more than 12,000 jobs in the State over these years and boost the infrastructure for the sellers, MSMEs, Women Entrepreneurs from the State and the region. Flipkart shall be engaging closely with the sellers, MSMEs and kirana stores in the State to onboard them and provide market opportunity. Knight Frank were the advisors to Flipkart for this project.

Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, Flipkart group said that  Flipkart’s focused investments in its supply chain have been pivotal to path-breaking, customer experience offerings that have helped build trust in e-commerce. “Today we have one of the strongest and resilient supply chain networks in the country, making over 40 million deliveries every month and employing more than 120,000 people across the country in the supply chain. We will continue to strengthen this infrastructure and create market opportunities for lakhs of sellers and MSMEs from the state while creating new livelihood opportunities and jobs,” he said.

Flipkart already has 12 supply chain assets in Haryana, including supply chain infrastructure for large appliances, non-large (including mobiles, apparel), grocery and furniture. The company currently employs more than 10,000 people in Haryana across its supply chain and has created lakhs of indirect jobs in the state. The company has also partnered with the National Skill Development Corporation’s Logistics Skill Sector Council to provide training on the nuances of supply chain and delivery, to ensure skill development, career progression and growth for its employees.
