Telangana all set to deal with COVID19

Telangana, the youngest state of India, seems to be the most prepared state to fight the Corona pandemic.

Although, the number of Corona positive cases in Telangana at present is less than 230. The state, under the leadership of CM K Chandrashekhar Rao, is gearing up to provide medical treatment even if the number rises to 1 lakh. The government is procuring medicines, medical equipment, ventilators and protective clothing for medical staff on a large scale.

The state is procuring Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kits worth Rs 12 crore. The PPE kits are the most important requirement for medical staff. Telangana government has also made arrangements to locally manufacture around one lakh disposable PPE kits.

Telangana government is purchasing 500 Corona testing kits which will give the test results within two and a half hours. One such kit can be used for testing 100 people. Hence, 50,000 people can be tested using these 500 kits.

Ventilators are crucial for the treatment of Corona patients. The state not only placed an order for 500 ventilators but has also reached out to DRDA for 500 ventilators and Ordnance Factory, Medak for 1000 ventilators. the Cabinet Minister for IT E&C, MA&UD and Industries & Commerce Departments, KT Rama Rao and Etela Rajender, Health Minister, Telangana had successful discussions with these organisations. Once the state gets these ventilators, Telangana will have 2200 ventilators in the state-run hospitals alone.

Moreover, Telangana is also procuring IV fluids worth Rs 20 crore, 50 lakh hydroxychloroquine tablets, anti-retroviral drugs and antibiotics. Apart from that, the state is also purchasing 50 lakh gloves, sanitisers, masks, N-95 masks, and respiratory medicines. The prompt response of Telangana to the crisis stands testimony to the CM’s farsightedness and expertise in crisis management.
