KSRTC, SWR to resume services from April 15

KSRTC

A little relief for the people Karnataka amidst the lockdown is that the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and South Western Railways (SWR) have announced that advanced booking for buses and trains will resume from April 15. However, the officials also clearly said that it should not be taken as an indication that the lockdown is going to end.

A KSRTC official said, “As per the present order, the lockdown period ends on April 14. Hence, the bookings are available from April 15. In fact, we had never blocked the entire booking system. Only bookings from March 24 to April 14 were cancelled.”

Informing about the SWR, an official said that the Advance Reservation Period (ARP) in the Railways is 120 days. Therefore, the Railway bookings never closed except for the lockdown period from March 24 to April 14. Once the lockdown ends we would organically resume our operations unless notified otherwise.

However, to contain the spread of COVID19 and ensure that the emergency services and transportation of essential services are not affected, the Transport Department had released a 24/7 helpline in all the transport offices across the State.

The helpline helps in ensuring that not only the transportation and supply of essentials from the government is seamless, but also by private players like NGOs are not affected or interrupted.
