
Judges of India’s apex court came forward to aid the nation’s fight against COVID-19 by contributing significantly to PM CARES Fund. Sharad A Bobde, Chief Justice of India (CJI) along with all the other judges of Supreme Court contributed a sum of Rs 50,000 each to the PM-CARES Fund to strengthen the efforts of the authorities to tackle the COVID-19 outbreak.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledging the contribution from the judges tweeted, “I thank the honourable Judges of the Supreme Court for this exemplary and inspiring gesture. Their contribution to PM-CARES will strengthen the efforts to fight COVID-19.”
Moreover, Justice NV Ramana, the second senior-most judge after the CJI, donated an amount of Rs 1 lakh to the PM-CARES fund and Rs 1 lakh each to the funds of the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana Chief Ministers. Also, P Sathasivam, former CJI and former Kerala Governor donated Rs 1 lakh to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
