The Thiruvananthapuram Corporations office gets a biometric punching system and CCTV cameras for surveillance. Kadakampally Surendran, Tourism Minister of Kerala inaugurated the facility at the corporation office on March 2.

A total of 10 biometric punching devices have been installed at the corporation office. As many as eight devices have been placed at the building’s entry point whereas the remaining two have been installed at the exit points. The biometric punching system has been installed at a cost of Rs 56.72 lakh, whereas, Rs 29.9 lakh was the spent on installing CCTV cameras.

Moreover, within the next two days, one punching device each will be fixed at the 15 health circle offices and 11 zonal offices of the civic body. As per a national daily’s report, 427 entries have already been made in the newly installed system.

In order to improve the security and transparency into the functioning of the city Corporation, around 140 CCTV cameras are being installed in the main office and 52 cameras in the circle and zonal offices for surveillance. The cameras will be fixed inside the office rooms, in the corridors, and in the office surroundings.
