Hours after beginning his fourth term as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday appointed Iqbal Singh Bains as the Chief Secretary of the state administration, an official order said.
Bains, a 1985 batch IAS officer, was earlier posted as Chairman of the Revenue Board.
After taking oath as Chief Minister on Monday evening at the Governor’s House, Chouhan proved the majority of his government in the Madhya Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday.
He needed support from 104 MLAs. He was backed by 107 of his own lawmakers as also by the Samajwadi Party, the Bahujan Samaj Party and independents.
