The change of guard in Punjab is seeing several changes to key positions in the government. Senior IAS officer Varun Roojam has been entrusted the charge of Director Information and Public Relations, Punjab and assumed office at Punjab Civil Secretariat, Chandigarh.
A seasoned and efficient Administrator, Roojam is an IAS officer of 2004 batch who has rendered his services as Deputy Commissioner in District Mukatsar, SAS Nagar Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Jalandhar, Amritsar and Patiala.
The new Director did Bachelor of Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh amd is the son of a distinguished legal luminary LR Roojam who retired from the post of District and Sessions Judge in the year 2004. After retirement L.R. Roojam has also served in the Punjab State Human Rights Commission as a member from the year 2009 to 2014.
