Going-MobileMobile data will register a compound annual growth rate of 18 percent between now and 2020, increasing its revenue share from the current 18 percent to 31 percent, says a Citi Research report.

According to the report, revenue from the traditional voice telephony will grow only at 3 percent annually. The revenue growth for the Indian telecom services industry is projected to be 6 percent per annum.

The report projects the data growth in parts.

With the launch of its 4G services in India by December this year, Reliance Jio Infocomm, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries (RIL) is expected to eat into the revenue market share of the incumbents, especially the weaker players.

The report says Idea Cellular, the Aditya Birla group company, will lose the most in the Indian telecom industry. This is because of relatively inferior spectrum and LTE delays. But, market-share impact could be the least for Airtel given its best-in-class spectrum.
