The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has assigned the additional charge of Director, Enforcement Directorate, to Karnal Singh, who is a 1984 batch IPS officer.
Currently, Singh is an ED Special Director and has been given the post of ED for a period of three months or until further orders for a regular appointment. He has replaced senior IAS officer Ranjan S Katoch, who held the post for almost three years.

After completing his two-year tenure, Dr. Katoch was given three extensions as ED Director. In the month of January, he was appointed Secretary in the Department of Heavy Industry.
