Ashwani Lohani, the engineer-turned bureaucrat, has been appointed as Chairman and Managing Director at Air India.
Lohani holds four engineering degrees and has authored two books: one on steam engine and the other on management. Apart from that, he is the first Railway Service Officer to be appointed as Chairman and Managing Director of Air India. He will be succeeding Rohit Nandan, who is a 1982 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre.
