Ajoy G Mehta, a 1984 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre has been appointed as the Commissioner for Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). Currently, he serves as Principal Secretary, Environment, in the State.
In his new stint, Mehta would be succeeding Sitaram Kunte, who has further been appointed as Principal Secretary of Environment Department, Government of Maharashtra. He is a 1985 batch IAS officer of Maharashtra cadre. He will be holding the position which was earlier held by Mehta till April 26. Kunte’s term was scheduled to complete as BMC Commissioner on April 30.
Mehta had marked his contribution well since he had brought drastic changes in the power sector. He had effectively implemented the surplus power plan for the state.
