IBM has announced to set up a new Internet of Things (IoT) unit. They would be investing $3 billion to set up this unit in the coming four years.
IBM’s General Manager, Pat Toole will head the new IoT business unit.
IBM has earlier introduced Smarter Planet and Smarter Cities, a campaign for enterprise IoT implementations.
Bob Picciano, Senior vice president, IBM Analytics, says that, “IBM will enable clients and partners apply IoT data to build solutions based on an open platform. This is a major focus of investment for IBM because it’s a rich and broad-based opportunity where innovation matters.”
According to reports, IBM IoT Cloud open platform would deliver new analytics services that clients, partners and IBM will use to design and deliver vertical industry IoT solutions.
