National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) in the state of Rajasthan has under taken an initiative to remind the parents about their timely immunization through SMS alerts. SMS alerts will congratulate the parents on the girl’s birth and advise ways to take better care of them.
The information technology (IT) section under NRHM will send SMS to beneficiaries of Janani Shishu Suraksha Yojna (JSSY) and chief minister Subhlaxmi Yojna.
Health department’s immunization project director Dr RP Jain said, “The state government is giving Rs 2,100 to mothers of girl child to get them immunized on time. The SMS alerts will keep them informed about the dates of immunization.”
The SMS alert feature has been incorporated in the Swasthya Sandesh Sewa, which was non-operational for more than eight months, and was restarted on August 25. It will ensure the effective delivery of health services to the beneficiaries.
SMS alerts will also be sent to the beneficiary’s or respective area’s auxiliary nurse midwife’s (ANM) from time-to-time.
