More wireless loop stations soon in Karnataka (India)

Soon Karnataka will have 400 wireless loop (WLL) stations, which will increase the landline capacity from 1.8 lakh to 4 lakh.

The chief general manager of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Karnataka Circle, T.S. Kuppuswamy stated that around 220 new stations will be added to the existing 180 stations in the state with nearly 2 lakh capacity.

The Bangalore Telecom Circle has intensified the development of Wi-fi facility and has identified 25 hotspots for usage of Wi-fi. Presently, Wi-Fi is accessible in airports, hotels, railway stations, convention centres, hospitals and in some apartments. For further expansion, BSNL is planning to have multi-play stations project with a capacity of 33 lakh ports. BSNL is also planning to release a Fixed Lines Pre Paid (FLPP) Scheme for Public Call Office but this will work better in the WLL intelligent network.
