Madurai police (India) will be brought under the Common Integrated Police Application (CIPA), a national level e-governance project for the police personnel to improve their functioning in the next six months.

The City Police Commissioner K Nandabala has inaugurated the first batch CIPA training programme for 16 police officer at Tallakulam police station on August 20, 2007. A city level implementation committee was formed under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police, Prabaharan. He along with the assistance from National Informatic Centre, district officer Michael Raj and Technical Inspector S Jeeva Murthy would train the police personnel on the application of CIPA. In the five-day programme, the police officials, including Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors and the station writers, would be trained in uploading data and overcoming technical interruptions while implementing the project.
