The private telecom operator Hutch has partnered with the Department of Post, Uttar Pradesh (India) to take the mobile telecoms services to the masses of the state.

The association is in form of a private-public partnership (PPP). Hutch will utilise the wide network of post offices for customer service, sale of pre-paid and post-paid connections as well as pre-paid recharges and post-paid delivery collections. The company will use the space in selected post offices to set up its self service kiosks and PCO units. The urban post offices will provide specific space for Hutch services, while rural post office will share counters for providing both postal services and Hutch services.
