NMCC launches manufacturing portal for SMEs

The National Manufacturing Competitive Council (NMCC), India has launched national manufacturing portal for small-and-medium enterprise in cooperation with Microsoft.

The National Manufacturing Competitive Council (NMCC), India has launched national manufacturing portal for small-and-medium enterprise in cooperation with Microsoft.


The portal is jointly developed by NMCC and Microsoft Corporation (India) Pvt Ltd as a part of `Project Vikas’, which is aimed to make the Indian SME sector competitive and to help establish `Made in India’ as a global brand. The portal, www.nmcc-vikas.in or www.nmcc-vikas.gov.in, is expected to enhance competitiveness of India’s manufacturing sector through the use of IT. The portal will also provide knowledge base on different manufacturing sectors and sub-sectors. In the first phase, textile cluster in Tirupur, pharma in Hyderabad and auto in Pune were identified for the initiative, while the second phase would cover leather cluster in Agra, auto in Chennai and textile in Ludhiana. NMCC aims to extend the initiative to 5-10 clusters in the next 12 months and around 25 clusters under the project in the next four-five years.
