Indian Railways is planning to invite bids for a INR 400 million project to integrate financial and employee management. This would be the largest Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) contract to be implemented in India.

According to government officials, leading IT companies Wipro, IBM, TCS, and Oracle have submitted their bids for the project. The system will manage the database of about 30 lakh present and past employees of Indian Railways. The project will involve an integrated system for tracking freight management, warehouse planning, financial management, and billing. The solution will also include a Human Resource Management System (HRMS). Software vendor, Oracle is keen to work on e-Governance projects. The company has implemented about 100 e-Governance projects across the country. IBM too plans to use its global knowledge of railways systems for Indian Railways.
