Now citizens of India can figure out how local civil body are spending their money and making more transparent the finance system. New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is launching e-Finance system in India.
NDMC’s e-Finance system is going online by July 1, 2007. The civic body is developing the system in collaboration with Infosys sponsored ‘e-Government’ group. Under the system, all data on money spent and earned by all departments of the NDMC would be put online. The system will allow citizen to find out all projects and activities, including water and electric bills.
The system will also help NDMC to create more balance budgets, reduce paper work and monitor expenses made by all departments. Versions of the software will be sent to all NDMC departments for comments and then a committee of senior officials will examine these comments and approve the project.
