Karnataka Government has signed a deal with Hewlett-Packard (HP) India, to offer e-Governance to its people.

The deal will allow Internet users of Karnataka to keep a tab on a close watch on government procurement activities like publishing of tenders/RFP, bidding online, empanelment of suppliers/contractors, contract management, procurement of goods, works as well as services. The e-Governance platform will allow various government departments to oversee the online tendering process, which will run on a public-private-partnership (PPP) model in the state. HP will get its revenue based on the transactions conducted on the portal. Initially, the project will connect six departments of the state government and later on it will connect all government departments.  The main aim project is to enhance the efficiency and transparency procurement in public. In turn, the state government would be able to maintain a clear picture of its procurement activities on a real-time basis.
