Mobile service for issueing national identity cards in Matale District (Sri Lanka)

The mobile service issuing national identity cards (NIC) to people over 18 years in the Matale district in Sri Lanka has commenced on November 20, 2006.

The mobile service issuing national identity cards (NIC) to people over 18 years in the Matale district in Sri Lanka has commenced on November 20, 2006.

It will last till November 23, 2006. The mobile service was organised by the Government Agent, Matale, Gamini Seneviratne with the help of the Department of Registration of Persons and other government departments in Matale district. Identity card was made compulsory to vote at an election under the Elections (Special Provisions)) Act No. 14 of 2004.
