The Indian Railways is planning to sell rail tickets at petrol pumps and automated teller machines (ATMs) in India.

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation's (IRCTC) are planning to introduce ticketing facilities at petrol pumps and ATMs and by roping in more booking agents. Indian Railways is planning to enhance call centre facility and SMS alert service and making Indian Railways as consumer-friendliness. The Railway is launching the 1,000-line call centre service by 2007 and SMS alert service about ticket and train status would be soon available. BSNL is launching the 24-hour call centre facility in all India number '139'. IRCTC is planning to start new trains, named 'Bharat Darshan' providing affordable countrywide tour packages.
