No fewer than 400 persons have been trained by the Nigerian Information Technology Development Agency(NITDA), the organisation charged with the responsibility of implementing Nigeria's Information Technology Policy.

The training supported by Cisco Systems, a world leader in computer networking, hardware and software manufacture, is designed to enhance human capacity development among Nigerians, especially in the public service. The agency had from inception embarked on the provision of subsidized human capacity development programmes to personnel from Nigerian civil service, universities as well as the National Youth Service Corps(NYSC). Beneficiaries of the NITDA Information Technology Academy included university lecturers who were trained to become Cisco instructors to enable them run local academies at their various universities under supervision from the Agency. The ministry was committed to human capital development as a prerequisite to increased productivity of its workforce.
