The Cabinet of India has given its approval to promulgate an Ordinance for bringing procedural changes in the provisions of the Companies Act, 1956, relating to electronic filing of documents enabling implementation of MCA 21 e-Governance Projects.

The Cabinet also gave its approval to introduce a Bill to replace the said Ordinance in the Parliament. The Amendments will enable the implementation of MCA 21 e-Governance project, the modernisation and computerisation programme of the Ministry of Company Affairs. The programme will provide citizens, corporates and others each, a secure online access to the core MCA services including filing and registration throughout the country any time and in a manner that may be determined by the citizens and businesses as best suited to them.
