In a recent administrative development in Punjab, the state government has shifted and transferred some notable IAS officers across the state.
Varinder Kumar Sharma, a seasoned bureaucrat of the 2009 IAS batch and the current Managing Director of Health System Corporation in Punjab, has been assigned additional responsibilities. He is now set to assume the role of Special Secretary and HOD in the Department of Water Supply & Sanitation, succeeding Amit Talwar of the 2013 IAS batch, who has been appointed as the Director of the Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training.
Furthermore, Mohammad Tayyab, a prominent figure from the 1995 IAS batch serving as the Director in the Department of Treasury and Accounts, has been entrusted with dual roles. He will now serve as Secretary in the Department of Finance and Managing Director in the Punjab Infrastructure Department Board.
In another significant move, Veerendra Kumar Meena, a member of the 1997 IAS batch currently serving as the Principal Secretary to Government in the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment & Minorities, has been appointed as the Administrative Secretary of the Jails Department, replacing Kumar Rahul of the 2000 IAS batch.
Adding to the administrative changes, Malwinder Singh Jaggi, an IAS officer from the 2005 batch and the current Secretary in the Department of Information & Public Relations, has been assigned additional responsibilities. He will now serve as the Administrative Secretary of the Planning Department and Tourism & Cultural Affairs, as well as assume the role of Director of MGSIPA.

Lastly, Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, an IAS of the 2001 IAS batch and the incumbent Secretary in the Department of Home Affairs & Justice, has been given additional charge as Administrative Secretary in the Department of Transport and Parliamentary Affairs.
