
The state of Goa has set the stage for the highly anticipated fourth Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) meeting, bringing together around 100 delegates from G20 member countries, esteemed special invitees, and prominent international organizations. According to a recent media report, the two-day conference, held in the capital city of Panaji, is being chaired by Pankaj Agarwal, the ETWG Chair and Secretary of the Union Ministry of Power.
Esteemed government officials attending the meeting include Vivek Bharadwaj, Secretary of the Ministry of Mines; Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Secretary of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy; and Amrit Lal Meena, Secretary of the Ministry of Coal, among other notable figures.
The report highlights that the key focus of the meeting revolves around addressing critical issues pertaining to energy transitions. These include bridging technology gaps, ensuring accessible and affordable financing options, and strengthening energy security within the sector. Additionally, discussions are centering around diverse supply chains, energy efficiency measures, transitioning towards low-carbon industrial practices, and promoting responsible fuel consumption.

During the proceedings, paramount attention is being given to the realization of universal access to clean energy and the development of inclusive pathways for affordable energy transition. The report emphasizes that the 4th ETWG meeting in Goa aims to build upon the success of previous meetings held in Bengaluru, Gandhinagar, and Mumbai. By identifying and promoting best practices, policies, and innovative approaches, the conference endeavors to advance the cause of inclusive energy transition on a global scale.
