The Andhra Pradesh government will begin working from Vizag in September, according to an announcement made on Wednesday by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The chief minister made the significant announcement while he was in Srikakulam.

It may be noted that CM Jagan made this declaration at the Global Investors Summit in Vizag held in March this year. Jagan noted that starting in September, he will stay in Visakhapatnam.

He further stated the reason for his visit to Srikakulam. “Four development projects were started today. Construction of the Moolapet Greenfield port and the Naupada settlement for port evacuees both had their foundations laid. Additionally started were the Hira Mandal Vamsadhara Lift Irrigation projects and the Budagatlapalem fishing harbour in Etcherla Mandal. These projects will change the face of Srikakulam,” CM Jagan said.

“The Srikakulam district was neglected by previous rulers. Moolapeta is now seen as the cornerstone of progress. Moolpet and Vishnu Chakra will one day rival Mumbai and Chennai in importance.”

“Moolapet Port is expected to cost Rs. 4,362 crores and take 24 months to construct. 35,000 individuals will have direct and indirect work opportunities thanks to the port. Building fishing harbours will stop Gangaputras from leaving their own region in search of work. A fishing harbour at Budagatlapalem would also be built for a cost of Rs. 365 crores,” the chief minister continued.
