
Science & Technology has been regarded as one of the most powerful tools of growth and development. India, being one of the largest developing economies, has taken extensive measures to strengthen the S&T systems in the country and to nurture innovation. Considering the fact, the Centre and States governments are constantly launching schemes, rolling out programmes, scholarships, various platforms for science and technology to thrive. And, the Department of Science and Technology (DST) has been at the forefront of India’s development. Throwing light on the agenda of India’s development, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan in association with Elets Technomedia is organising a two-day virtual summit STRIDE on May 30 and 31, 2020.
The term ‘STRIDE’ stands for – Science, society and startups; Technology, Transfer of Technology and Biotechnology; Research; Intellectual Property Rights, Industrial Design and Innovation; Design Drones and Development; and Engineering and Entrepreneurship. Hence, the Summit will feature various topics ranging from innovation ecosystem in biotechnology. Discussions will include how science is serving the society and the industry leaders will brainstorm and discuss the fate of scientific startups, their growth, scope, challenges and opportunities. Further, the Summit will also see speakers talking on research and development aspect, institutional frameworks, policy reforms needed, development in science and research. Industrial design, advanced technologies and engineering are also among the prominent topic under the agenda of the Summit.
The Summit will witness an eminent panel comprising of policymakers from the Centre and the State governments including – Prof. Ashutosh Sharma, Secretary, DST, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; Dr Guruprasad Mohapatra, Secretary, Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India; Dr Renu Swarup, Secretary, Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India; Mugdha Sinha, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology, Government of Rajasthan. Moreover, domain experts; heads of some of the most prime institutions in the country; scientists; and industry leaders will be addressing the Summit.
