The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has registered an increase in the net profit from Rs 978.79 crore in FY 2013-14 to Rs 2124.47 crore in FY 2014-15.
“NHPC has achieved sales realisation of Rs. 5883.32 crore during FY 2014-15,” R S T Sai, CMD, NHPC, said at the company’s 39th Annual General Meeting (AGM), adding that the NHPC Board has recommended a final dividend of Re 0.60 per share for the period.
The meeting was attended by shareholders, members of NHPC Board including Independent Directors and senior officers from the company.
Expressing gratitude to all the shareholders for their contribution to the success NHPC, Sai highlighted the achievements of the company. He presented the company’s Annual Report for the year ended 31st March 2015.
“NHPC has added 130 MW to its installed capacity with the commencement of commercial operation of Unit IV of Parbati-III Power Station,” Sai said. He also informed about the formation of subsidiary company, Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited, to implement 50 MW Solar Power Project in Uttar Pradesh.
The company has signed an agreement with the Government of West Bengal and West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. for development of four hydroelectric projects of the total estimated capacity of 293 MW in Teesta basin. These projects shall be developed on Build, Own, Operate and Maintain (BOOM) basis.
Presently, four hydroelectric projects with installed capacity of 3,290 MW are in construction stage. A 50 MW Wind power project is under construction in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. One 50 MW solar power project is under implementation through Joint Venture in Uttar Pradesh.
As part of the company’s expansion programme, five hydroelectric projects with installed capacity of 5,115 MW are under various stages of investment approval by the Government of India. In addition, three hydroelectric projects in Jammu & Kashmir (2120 MW) and two hydroelectric projects – one of 66 MW in Manipur and one of 770 MW in Bhutan are envisaged to be executed through Joint Venture Companies.
