The Election Commission of India (ECI) said it would complete linking of Aadhaar with voter photo identity cards across the country, except North East, by August this year.

“Linking of Aadhaar with voter photo identity cards will eliminate duplication of 85 crore Indian voters,” Chief Election Commissioner H S Brahma said.

“It is expected to clear 6-8 per cent duplication in the electoral roll,” he said.

According to report, the linking process in the Southern states of Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala and Goa will be completed by May.
