The Federal Government is putting forth a proposal in cooperation with telco industry and indigenous communities to improve indigenous communications.

The discussion paper was released by ICT Minister Senator Helen Coonan. The $36.6 million funded Backing Indigenous Ability program, is expected to help indigenous communities to access phones, Internet and videoconferencing in regional, rural and remote areas in order to participate in Australia's economic, social and cultural activity.
