Jewar Airport to Be Named Narendra Modi International Airport

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to rename the upcoming airport in Jewar as Narendra Modi International Airport, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced during a press conference in Lucknow.

The proposed name change concerns the airport in Jewar, located in Gautam Buddh Nagar district near the Delhi-NCR region. The decision comes as Uttar Pradesh continues to expand its aviation infrastructure and strengthen regional connectivity.

Cabinet Approves Proposed Name Change

The Cabinet’s approval marks an important step in the proposal to rename the airport, which is widely known as Noida International Airport.

The announcement was made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath during his press briefing. However, the Cabinet’s approval alone does not confirm that all formal naming procedures have been completed. Further official details will clarify the process and the date from which the proposed name will come into use.

Jewar Airport’s Role in Regional Connectivity

Located in Jewar in Gautam Buddh Nagar district, the airport is a major aviation infrastructure project for the Delhi-NCR region.

Its development is expected to strengthen air connectivity and support passenger movement, business activity and regional economic development. The proposed renaming has brought additional attention to the project as the state continues to develop its transport infrastructure.

CM Highlights Religious and Cultural Initiatives

During the same press conference, Adityanath also referred to initiatives related to Uttar Pradesh‘s religious and cultural heritage.

His remarks included the hoisting of a religious flag at a temple, the expansion of the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and a direct connection through the Ganga Path. He also mentioned Piparwan in the Buddhist region and the Kumbh Mela held in Prayagraj.

Formal Naming Process Awaits Further Details

The proposed renaming of Jewar airport was the main announcement concerning aviation infrastructure during the briefing. The next steps will depend on the applicable formal naming process and subsequent official notifications.
