V L Kantha Rao Appointed OSD in Department of Official Language

V L Kantha Rao, IAS (MP: 1992), Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, has been appointed as Officer on Special Duty (OSD), Department of Official Language, Ministry of Home Affairs.

Rao will take up the new assignment in the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.

Senior IAS Officer Gets New Assignment

V L Kantha Rao is a 1992-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He is currently serving as Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti.


His appointment to the Department of Official Language brings an experienced administrator into a key position under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

OSD Role in Ministry of Home Affairs

As Officer on Special Duty, Rao will be associated with the Department of Official Language, which functions under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

The department is responsible for matters related to the implementation and promotion of the official language policy of the Union Government.

Appointment at Secretary Level

Rao has been appointed to the OSD position with the rank and pay of Secretary to the Government of India.
