The West Bengal government is planning to transform Mayapur in Nadia district into an international-standard religious and tourist destination, with a major development project proposed around the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) headquarters.

According to sources in the Urban Development Department, the project will cover around 2,100 bighas of land near the ISKCON temple.
Urban Development Minister Agnimitra Paul recently visited the temple and held discussions with government officials and ISKCON representatives regarding the proposed development plan.

Focus on Infrastructure and Tourist Facilities
The planned development will focus on improving infrastructure and facilities for pilgrims and tourists. The project is expected to include better roads and public transport, along with improved waste management and lighting.
Modern facilities will also be developed to improve the overall experience for visitors to the religious and tourist destination.

Nabadwip to Be Developed Under Smart City Project
The state government also plans to bring Nabadwip under the Smart City project. The initiative will focus on developing the area with modern urban infrastructure as part of the broader development plans.
